Motorcycles have a higher rate of fatal accidents than automobiles. According to The Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles, 2,214 motorcyclists were injured on Wisconsin roads in 2010. That represents a 2.2% increase from the 2,165 injured in 2009 and a 9.0% increase from 2000. An additional 104 non-motorcyclists were injured in crashes involving motorcycles in 2010. Motorcycle insurance covers most types of motorcycles including, cruisers, street sport, touring, high-performance bikes and scooters.
